The screensaver on my work PC scrolls through a folder of photos I’ve taken over the past few years.  This morning this photo came up and it reminded me of a great breadmaking course I attended last summer, run by the brilliantly-named Tom Baker of Loaf, a food-based social enterprise in Birmingham.  Six of us met in Tom’s kitchen to learn the basics of breadmaking (the results are pictured!) and as a result of what I learned, I’ve gone from someone who produced sporadic heroic failures in the bread department to someone who (whilst in no way a culinary colossus) has learned to make satisfyingly reliable bread on a regular basis.  Check out Loaf’s many activities at:
