Those who’ve known me a while may well know that some of my big historical heroes were the Rowntree family who not only founded and ran the famous chocolate works in the late 19th/early 20th centuries but also undertook a whole raft of philanthropic initiatives.  Seebohm Rowntree, as a pioneer social investigator, was a major early inspiration for me in finding a Christian vocation to use my research skills for some wider good.  I’ve just found the blog of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, who for my money are always one step ahead of the pack in understanding and thinking carefully about some of the key social changes happening in contemporary society.  Take a look for yourself.
